Is a 1936 moggie in bad condition worth anything?

My poor mother had her moggie stolen nearly 5 years ago, after she reported to the police, she was contacted by the DVLA asking her if she had sold it as someone was trying to re-registar it. Any how now she has been contacted by the police and they have the poor little car in their pound. But the nasty person who stole it has wrecked it. Pannels are meant to be in ok condition, my mum does not have the heart to do it all again and wishes to give the little car ago with someone else. It is a 1936 split screen moggie, black with red interior ( what condition no idea)
I can remember as a child that the side indicators (ones by the doors) use to pop out and that it had the original radio in it.

Can anyone offer any advice as to what my mum should do???

Well, every Minor is fixable, but it depends on a lot of things as to whether it is worth it. What the car is 'worth' completely depends on the condition so more info is needed to answer your question. Also I expect the car is a 1950's model if it has the split windcreen and trafficators.
If you just want rid of it then places like e-bay can be useful as long as you start it low + use some nice pictures of it etc..
If you want it to go to a good home then you can advertise it on this site but you'll be asked to provide plenty of info on it (probably starting with where you are..)

Check carefully about storage and recovery. I nearly ran into problems when I had a very similar thing: my car was stolen and later recovered. My car was off the road and not insured. Therefore when recovered, I was liable for the recovery and storage charges. I considered the value of the car and considered not collecting it but I don't think that gets you out of paying up, it just increases the storage charge. If the car was insured, and they paid out, the car belongs to them unless they've transferred it to you. Try to get them to pay the storage and recovery costs before they pass it back, though. Whatever you do, don't delay as the storage charges can mount very quickly.

As a rule of thumb minors without MOT normally end up in the "free" section of the forum, unless its something a bit special (I'm assuming you have a 2/4 door saloon) like a split screen traveller or a pick up still with its original steel sides.

If it does have MOT and runs it'll be worth something to somebody, without seeing it and knowing whats been done its impossible to say what its worth but condition 2 cars with long(ish) MOT tend to sell between £300-£700 although if its trashed you might not make more than about £50 on it. But market value seems to be determined more by how shiny the car is or how good you can make it look on ebay pictures (the bucket of soapy water trick seems to be quite popular)
