chrome/brushed aluminium engine bay tarting!

hello, I am a self confessed chrome tart... and apart from a shiny rocker cover, and ( a mixed review on ) the pancake air filters, what else can I tartify under the bonnet with nice shiny silvery sparkly chromey things please?
any ideas, pics welcome....

Chrome horn and although not chrome you could always clean the paint off the radiator and polish up the brass!

I have seen the windscreen wiper motor "chromed".

I have the following chromed parts lying about which I never used:
Fan blades
Crankshaft pulley and nut
Holder for wash bottle
Water pipe
I also had the oil filter housing but gave that away recently.
The chrome is not perfect but useable. If you are interested let me know.

Only if you really trust your plater. Otherwise you'll find copper, nickel, and even a bit of chromium, in all the places you don't want: the main bore; the damper bore, and the threads for the damper cap. They'll all *promise* to mask off the bits you don't want plating...

You'll also narrow the appeal of the car when you come to sell it. As with all such tarting, there'll be plenty of people who'd prefer you to knock the daft amount plating costs off the price of the car. Few will reject a car because the rocker cover is "only" painted.

or you simply buy a chrome dash pot cover this for a pair and far to big for a moggy but you get the idea..

thank you all for your replies, and declan I have pm'd you..
regarding people being put off by the tarting up... I don't care about that, I am very likely to keep the car a long time and I think if I saw a tarted up one I would be v drawn to it, am sure their are others who would too. We got the car at a v good price and are doing her up so by the time she is finished she will look amazing. I guess it is all down to personal choice, I am not bothered about historical accuracy and am already toying with a bigger engine. Horses for courses or something :p

Fair play to you, its your car, and you should do what you like, make it personal and exactly what you want, whether or not that is original concourse, majorly modified /custom, or somewhere in the middle

I am going to start a blog I think, following her restoration ( sad I know )...I have a vision in my head of how I want her but it is a long way off. Thanks for all of your replies and anymore welcome

It's your car and you can do as you please. Just keep using the car and keep it roadworthy and spread the gospel of our lord "Mog" The only reason people harp about originality is the potential resale value is generally higher. If you come to sell and have it untastefully modified you restrict your market and some people struggle to get what they think the car is worth to them. Generally if you modify always do it so the next owner can convert it back if they want to, that way you can maximise the resale value.

I caught the shiny bug slightly. All of my bling is removable and the engine can be restored to a 'stock' look in a few minutes.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

It's also amazing what you find when you sand back a few layers of paint, I originally thought this was blobs of solder on the radiator:[frame][/frame]
