parcel shelf
I am fitting a new parcel shelf to my Traveller that I am restoring, but I am having problems with the metal crash bar, I have seen photos on Web sites but they look different to mine, I ask ESM and they told me that the angle should be facing the driver, but then the rubber buffer is pointing down wards, has any one got any photos of how they should be fitted please, or any advice, cheers.[frame]

Re: parcel shelf
just been through this myself, the angle faces the driver.it will not fit the other way round(The logical way) the end fittings then don't line up.Took me ages to work it out because you think that with the sharp edges facing towards the seats that this would be dangerous. Bet they wouldn't get away with this today, never pass the safety checks.

Re: parcel shelf
I fitted my shelf with the ledge facing forward and at the bottom of the padding. I had a difficult job holding the self in position whilst I drilled holes and pop rivetted the shelf on top of the ledge so that the shelf was supported between the ledge and the cushion. I wondered why the holes were in the wrong places but the end result seemed to work. I found that nuts and bolts were the easiest way to attach the shelf to the bulkhead

Re: parcel shelf
Thanks for your help, I have been driving my wife mad with this problem, I agree with you that the angle should face the driver, and that is the way I will fit it, I have a new Parcel shelf from ESM, it looks like I will have to bend the edge of the new shelf to fit the angle, there is a small indent line on the back so looks like it is made to help bend in the right place, I think this is what I will have to do so I can fix it to the angle, is this how you did yours. many thanks again.
Re: parcel shelf
yes that what the indent is for.when I did mine I got some pipe lagging and covered it with vinyl and just pushed it onto the metal edge, stays there without gluing and looks much better
Re: parcel shelf
You may find the shelf will not stretch fully to the bulkhead area when the 'flap' is bent up, the shelf being just that bit too narrow, at least that's what I found! I needed to add small spacers to compensate.
