Looking for my Dads first car...

Post by shandyhaggis »

Hi everyone

I have a soft spot for the MM as it was my dads first car and he has told me it many times in the past. I was hoping that I could convince my daughter that she maybe would be intersted in one as her first car... perhaps she could share it with her dad:-)

This year I embarked on the restoration of a 1976 914 and it got me thinking of trying to track down my dads car. I'm not really sure of the link between one and the other, I think its because as I was stripping it down he mentioned about a hundred times that the minor was easier to work on and better built. I don't think I could argue with that:-)

Absolute long shot of course but thought id try.

It was a black MM with Red seats - I think a series II registration number RVK 736. Not sure if he had it from new but I'm pretty sure it would have been registered in the North East, probably Newcastle.

If anyone knows of the car or can help trace it Id be very grateful.

Many Thanks

Andrew

DVLA database ( https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPo ... ution=e1s1 ) - does not have the registration listed so this probably means it was scrapped. Outside possibility that it is in a barn somewhere waiting to be discovered.....

Good hunting

Thanks for coming back to me... and thanks for the link, thats useful.

I suspect your right, it would be nice to get a hold of the plate at least. I'll see if the DVLA have it

Cheers
