radio / ipods

Post by markthe45king »

I have finally come round to putting a proper radio in lily (at present i have a battery operated pc speaker and my ipod)

now my choices are a cheapo halfords radio with a usb input (i never listen to the radio!) that i can just leave loose and hide away or i could buy a nice looking vintage unit adapted with ipod inputs. But that's an extra £90 at least.

So my question is - does anyone know who does such a conversion (adding the ipod inputs to a nice radio) and how much i'm looking at - i'd like to look at this way as if i got an old radio i wouldn't need to change the polarity, and i'm kind of attached to being the opposite way round to modern cars.....

thanks as ever.

It seems no-one does it cheap! A nice period Radiomobile with ipod connection is nearly £100:

You can buy an unconverted unit and do it for much less if you like:

If you never use the radio you can just fit a headless amp under the dashboard and plug your ipod directly into it. Nicely hidden and a good sound.
It's what I do in mine. I open up the glove compartment and the player rests on the lip of the open flap.
I use my phone as the mp3 player and it has the added advantage of acting as a handsfree phone with the caller's voice coming over the stereo.
