Bolts in Traveller rear door hinges - which way round?

My Traveller project was part part-dismantled, and as a result I don't know which way round the tailgate bolts fit, ie should the nut be inside or outside the car?

I bought Steve Foreman's bag of tricks with all the fixings for the timber framed body, which of course includes 16 bolts and nuts for the rear doors. However 12 of the 16 bolts are dome rather than hexagon headed, with a square collar next to the head. In engineering terms, it would look just wrong for the square collar to mate up to the outer face of the hinge, as the dome would stand proud, with the corners of the square collar imposing pressure at points of the hinges instead of spreading the load. However if the nuts face outside the car this looks inelegant, and also makes the car a magnet for tea leaves, if tea leaves can be ferrous. Four of the bolts are hexagon headed but without the square collar.

Do they really all mount with the nuts facing outwards? And do I take it that the hexagonal headed ones shoud be fitted one per hinge, the other way round?

The domed bit goes to the inside of the door, the square collar digs into the wood holding it quite firm. The 4 with the hexagon head are probably for the top of the rear pillars were they will be hidden by the window runner. The ones I got needed shortened slightly before fitting the nuts. I bought some stainless dome headed nuts and cover from B & Q to cover the end of the threads on the outside tho originally they would just have been painted in body colour.[frame][/frame]
