boot lid
hello i have been to look at a morris minor my friend owns i have never seen a sack of rust in my life it had completley gone its only located in chesterfield i got the boot lid and a few other bits of it i got the boot lid home and found it was rotton the second skin from the first but the edge of the boot lid is in mint condntion so i dont know if its salvagalble or not so i was wonering what i should do with it
Re: boot lid
Not quite sure what you mean when you say first and second skin. Rotten and mint don't often appear in the same sentence when describing a boot lid. Maybe a picture would help then guys can give their opinions on how much work is necessary to restore it.

Re: boot lid
Do you mean the difference between the exterior skin (what shows on the outside) and the internal stiffeners (the geometrically-complex plating around the edges on the inside)? If the internal stiffening is rotted away, it is possible to salvage the lid, but maybe not economically. I'm fairly sure that's not fabricated as a repair panel by anybody, so you'd have to design and cut out your own.

Re: boot lid
There is a repair panel for the bootlid available but only for the lower edge. It may prove cheaper to cut your losses and get another one. They are often offered on this site. Put a post in the wanted section?
