Finding parts

Post by gyro »

Looks like i have a challenge, went to two for the large parts vendors here in florida. The young kids working the counter had never heard of a Morris Minor, (one even said i made it up as a joke) and there computer system did not even have it listed. Question is, could i get the names of a few good places to order from?

Maybe he needed to look under British Leyland or Rover.
Depends on the age of his books/system.

Lots of consumables are the same as Minis and other BMC vehicles.

MOSS have good diagrams and many parts - but may not be the cheapest. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Browse/Com ... teTypeID=1
You can also ask JLH who are VERY 'user friendly' and definitely will export parts to you. http://www.jlhmorrisminors.co.uk/

What parts are you looking for ??

I (living in the States) never buy from any of the importers here, because I'm averse to middlemen. But if you're not, then those contacts above are excellent. I buy direct from the British suppliers (who are sometimes also middlemen but it doesn't bother me as much because they're in Britain), Bull Motif and ESM usually. Shipping is a b$!@h but the exchange rate is coming down, and you'd pay for shipping through any route, anyway.

But since most of the parts are very very inexpensive compared to 'modern' car parts - I'm sure they are still a bargain even with the shipping costs!

BMC's absolutely right. Even on another continent, the Morris Minor is one of the most economical classics to restore. Look at me -- I'm the quintessential poor college student, and I've been able to scratch out enough to restore Mog.
