OIL SUITABILITY- HELP!

Post by silverdorking »

Just about to set off for the West Country (from Hereford) and looking at the differential oil level- it needs a little topping up.
My urgent request for help is ........... will EP 75W/80 be OK when I see Haynes suggests 90?
A quick response will be really helpful- thanks in anticipation

Hello Andrew,

yes that will be OK, IF, it is marked GL4, not GL5. GL5 is not good for some of the differential parts.

You may need to hunt around for it, try trade motor factors rather than motor accessory shops.

A 'little topping up' is not serious - don't worry about it... But - how do you KNOW it's just a 'little'??
