morris 1000 exhaust routing

Post by oldmod1968 »

hi, I have two questions.

1/ can you use an exhaust like that of an mg midget that goes under the axle as opposed to over the axle.

2/ I have a mg midget rear box and intermediate pipe that was attached to an lcb manifold. Who makes an lcb for a minor? I assume the midget lcb cant be made to fit.

thank you

I imagine you would run short of ground clearance, which is probably not such a worry on a sports car! My long term ambition is to turn the exit pipe to face out just ahead of the rear wheel, which gets rid of the rust-prone over-axle section, and in the case of my traveller will hopefully stop any fumes leaking in through the gaps around the back doors! LCB's are available, but tend to be quite pricey :( Try Maniflow.

The Spridget axle is restrained by straps to limit the droop - and the overall suspension movement is thus very limited. It won't work on a Minor. I did have a pipe exiting in front of the nearside wheel on my Rally Minor. It was bl**dy loud......and I'm not sure it's legal now to have the pipe coming out on the nearside.....

If you fit a non Minor LCB you need to check that silencer clears the cross member
