Hi All
I have recently taken ownership of a lovely 1958 1000 4 door, Sage Green, saloon. The car has been in my family for many years and was fully restored in 1989, since which she has done very little work. When my Mum threatened to Ebay her I stepped in and am now using her regularly and loving it.
I am now just trying to put one or two things right, and one of these is the throttle return spring. Mine is going down to a home made hook attaching to the chassis and it seem it should be going to a bracket attached to the Exhaust bracket. Is this correct? and if so does anyone know if these brackets are available from spares companies?
I look forward to any help you guys can give me and really look forward to many happy years with my minor.
Cheers

Re: SU Throttle Return Spring bracket
Absolutely. I really just wanted to see where it attached and what it looked like so that I can do something similar. This investigation all came about when the throttle started sticking open a couple of days ago so I was looking into everything in the carb area. That problem ended up being a dirty dashpot causing the piston to stick.bmcecosse wrote:It's nothing special - a bent bit of metal would do the job!
Thanks for the help
Re: SU Throttle Return Spring bracket
Piston sticking doesn't make the throttle stick.... usually down to sticking throttle cable. A new one (long as possible) makes a world of difference.

Re: SU Throttle Return Spring bracket
That's interesting, as after I cleaned the dashpot and piston the over revving that I am describing as throttle sticking has seemed to stop, at least for a couple of days.
Although I was suspicious of the throttle cable and have replaced that with a new one today
Again, thanks for the input, I'm always keen to learn from more experienced people as I did when I used to run a series 3 landrover. The forums are always the best place for advice.
