Engine noise
On start up from cold my engine makes a noise as the oil goes up around it then goes away. Once the oil warms up it gets much noisier , like a metallic sound ,but there has been no drop in performance , the engine still pulls well, could this turn into a terminal problem?, any ideas.

Re: Engine noise
How does the oil pressure light behave ? An oil pressure gauge is THE most important accessory...... It does rather sound like bearing rattle - you could try a set of new big end shells (easily fitted with engine still in the car) - but really - it probably needs an exchange crank and a new oil pump fitted. I assume you are on 20W50 oil - and the oil filter is new(ish) - and the pressure plate and spring are present and correct in the filter canister?

Re: Engine noise
It has fresh 20w50 oil in , a new filter and all the filter parts ,oil light comes on when oil is warmed up , only when idling.
Re: Engine noise
Well - you could drop the sump and have a look at the big ends -and the centre main which will tell the whole story.......
