I seem to have bought a Head Gasket which is NOT imbossed TOP FRONT.
No instructions on pack and the young shop assistant did not know what I was talking about.
The gasket has a metal finish on one side, and non metal surface on the reverse.
It may not make a difference, but it might.
Any Ideas?
Regards Don
Which way up does my Headgasket go??

Typically, the folded over part goes on top. Look at the old one when you remove it, to see which way it is.

i normally go for shiny side to block. but do check that you wont be blocking any holes whichever way you choose to fit it. it's a pain to put it all together and run it, only to find no oil getting up to the rockers!

It doesn't matter, as long as it slips over the studs - but I have to say - that type of gasket would NOT be my first choice...........

Having replaced a few BMC head gaskets over the last couple of years, these seem to be the only ones you can get from most motor factorsbmcecosse wrote:It doesn't matter, as long as it slips over the studs - but I have to say - that type of gasket would NOT be my first choice...........
Old car owners don't die......they just rust away

Another good reason to carry a spare copper faced gasket in the car.....
