Wish I hadn't started that job!!

Post by orb596 »

Do you ever wish that you hadn't started something? :-?
I just thought I'd have a couple of hours out in the garage this afternoon scraping off the loose underseal and repainting the sills etc. Well - the passenger side was fine but the scraper went straight through the sill on the drivers side!!!
Great - got some welding to do now and, of course, no time to do it!
Don't ya just love old cars???? :D :D

For the first time in my life I actually had the opposite!!

I decided to strip apart the front suspension.
Every nut was loose, every thread was good, every bolt non-rounded...etc... I thought I was either dreaming or in some wierd 'Twilight Zone' other dimension.
All done in a lunchtime, then back to work with manky hands.

Usually takes me several hours to do the simplest of jobs.

Was that the SAME lunchbreak when you did the head gasket on the Mini ? You must get good lunchbreaks - I was always lucky if I got time to eat a sandwich, and even then I was catching up on emails...... - back in the bad old days of going to work! :-?

No, different break - different car park too.
We've (the company) moved buildings since then!

But, you've spotted the theme... all my work is carried out in lunchbreaks. Much to the amusement of the rest of the office.
I even swapped a lower arm on a KA a few weeks back, for a workmate.
What would Macgyver do..?

I'll nominate this as Katys law, it's that true.

I've been changing a diff, piece of cake in theory, but an overtightened screw, a big dose of red Hermetite and several hundred years of filth weren't in the original equation :(
