This week our new to us Moggy blew it's headgasket between 3 and 4 cylinders.
It was eight mile from home, Green flad refused to assist because of the age of the car.
I drove home VERY slowly in gears one and two. Crying because of the strain on the engine.
When the head blows, is it possible/safe to drive with two plugs removed? Or just remove the HT leads and expect a few impressive back fires through the exhaust?
All ideas welcome
Can I drive my moggy with one or two spark plugs out?

have you looked on ebay for a local transport company?
I was charged 30 quid to transport a traveller from my house about 5 miles down the road to a friends house... and I live in the south east!

If you have a Green Flag Policy it should state what is covered. There was no problem recovering my Minor when I was with them.
The MMOC RAC policy will cover you.

RH Classic car Insurance includes Roadside and Recovery if required....... who are you insured with ??? But yes - it would have been kinder to drive with the two plugs out - and actually would have given you a little more power since there wouldn't have been any 'pumping' losses in these two cylinders. You need to hope now that the head and block haven't been horribly scoured by that run home...... When mine did this at a similar distance from home - I just changed the gasket at the side of the road - hardest part was walking 1 mile in to town to buy a gasket - and then walking back to the car! I always carry a spare gasket now.

Thanks for this reply

Although I will and do carry a shed load of tools, don't you know I would be short of something. In the future I will carry a Gasket kit, and re-arrange my road side cover. Perhaps popping a plug out for a short drive.

MORONSGreen flad refused to assist because of the age of the car

Typical 'get out' clause.
A damn site easier to fit a new HG to an A series than do the same job to a new Ford Mondingo.

I did a mini one during my lunch at work. Even ate greasy sarnies at the same time.

What would Macgyver do..?
