I believe other cars having slightly higher or at least different height bumpers.

To keep over-rider sellers in business?
I shant be running them. A decent set (that wont pit/rot in 5 minutes) is too expensive when I've got more pressing uses for the money.
I believe they were originaly done to stop bumpers locking when you 'bumped' another car, due to the height differences as said.

Back in the day in London especially "touch" parking was the order of the day and bumpers would lock together! You had to get someone to jump up and down on the bumper while you reversed to release them.
