Bubbling Radiator

Post by simmitc »

I have my own fears as to what this might mean, but would welcome all suggestions:

Engine starts and runs beautifully. Compression at cold on all four cylinders 160psi. Oil consumption: absolutely none :o
As the engine warms up, it still runs perfectly, but then as soon as the thermostat opens (temperature gauge fitted to confirm this), there is severe bubbling of air in the radiator, with water being forced out. However, the engine does not miss a beat. Compression when hot still around 160psi on all 4 cylinders. Using testing fluid, there is a very slight trace of combustion gases in the radiator, but nothing like the amount that I would expect if there was a crack that opened when hot. The head is coming off now for inspection.
