You need to get Whitworth spanners and sockets, otherwise you are going to bxxxxx the heads on the nuts and bolts on the car. It is probably the reason that you cannot undo those bolts. You need 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 spanners and sockets at the very least, and a set of A/F spanners and sockets from 3/8 to 1 in A/F. Throw the metric tools away

..the mechanic told me earlier that if I find the same water outlet he will cut with a small saw and then he will wedge a pipe on the screw to remove it! Ouch! Just the idea it scares me. I don't want him to damage my engine just because he doesn't have the right tools for the job. I will tell him to leave it as it is and I will see what I'll do. I will try to find someone else to change the water ouutlet. If I find one that is!

I found two local shops who have spanners and sockets in inches. But they are not Whitworth. One of them is KingTony.. The other brand is Toptool. Are these tools is what I need? They are not metric.

If they are not Whitworth then they must be A/F which you will need. A/F = Across the Flats so 1/2 in A/F has jaws 1/2 in to fit UNC and UNF bolt threads. You will need a set of 1/2 in drive sockets, a set of open ended spanners and some ring and combination spanners. You will also need 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 Whitworth sockets and spanners

I found these but... sorry to ask... what is the difference between the Whitworth spanner and sockets ( this one -> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... _748wt_905 ) and the A/F spanners and sockets from 3/8 to 1 in A/F?? ( http://stores.ebay.co.uk/AB-Tools-Onlin ... =748838716 )

thanx.

The first lot are good for the Morris MM. The AF set are good for later British cars when they started to change from Whit to AF. Think of bolts as being like knife/fork/spoon. They may come from the same factory, they have similar shapes but they are no good for doing any job except the one they were designed for.

Shoes are the same. :D

You would be wise to get a set of A/F tools, there was a partial change over from Whitworth to A/F but unless you know the full history of your car you will not know what has been fitted by previous owners

Why not have a local fabricate one out of steel? Shouldn't be hard to make.
