suspension problems

Post by NicholEvans »

I have a problem with the passenger side suspension that i have had since i took ownership of the car where the whole front of the car on the passenger side is sagging? its slightly dramatic. the damper also needs replacing since it is very very soft and when i tried putting more oil in, it made no difference at all... i have the feeling that the car has been adjusted and not put back? or could there be a problem with the torsion bar being past its best maybe? is made it so the suspension has smashed up into my wheel arch and bent the rubber bump stop up. once i have sorted out this problem i also intend to lower the car really at the front so if someone could give me a detailed description of the process of how to do so then that would be brilliant!

thanks for your help guys

Do not use the car until the suspension is repaired, the problem could be one of several things and it needs checking by a competent person. Forget about lowering the front suspension, it is set at the normal height so that the rebound rubbers don't get knocked off.

Check to see if the reaction bar for the T bar has started to work it's way up through the floor - under the front seat. And as above - there is little room for lowering - without doing major damage to the inner front wings

Take some pictures!
By reaction bar he means the short bar at the back of the torsion bar that goes into the cross member.
Torsion bars are almost indestructible, they were made over spec as it was new technology to Morris at the time.

What do you know about the recent history of the car?
