Remove the radiator

Post by mistarkos »

Hello all again,

Since my Moggy is still at the mechanic I would like to have the radiator removed and take it to a specialist for cleaning (flush).
The question is ..how do you remove the radiator? Does it come out with the front grill? Can I detach it from the grill?

thank you all again.

Open the tap on the bottom of the radiator, if fitted, and drain the water. Undo the top and bottom hose jubillee clips and pull off the bottom hose. It is usually easier to remove the top hose as you are lifting the radiator up.
There are four 1/4 Whitworth head bolts, two each side, holding the radiator. Remove these and lift the radiator out taking care not to damage it on the fan blades.
If you do not have a drain tap in the botttom of the radiator then fit one whilst the radiator is out of the car.

Are the 1/4 Whitworth head bolts from the inside or from the outside of the grill?

The bolts are down the side of the radiator, you should be able to see the top bolts
