Saloon carpets

I have just got a new carpet set, as I am getting close to finishing my restoration. The packaging states there
should be 12 pieces included in the set. However, I can only find 11, listed below.

2 Front foot mats (including drivers side with cut outs and heel mat)
2 rear floor mats
2 sill pieces (long strips)
2 front wheel arch covers (small pieces curved on both sides)
2 transmission tunnel pieces (cut outs for handbrake and gear lever)
1 long strip with trim sewn on, (rear kick panel under the rear seat?)

As the car didn't have any carpets when I got it (apart from a few scraps stuck to the floor) I have no idea
what a complete set looks like. If there is indeed a piece missing where is it for? The only places I can think
of would be the front bulkhead or the boot.

Any advice gratefully received. I have tried contacting the supplier, but so far with no luck. When I get this
sorted, I wont be using them again.

yes the single long string does goes on the panel under the seat.

and yes that is a complete carpet set, the boot carpet is nice to have but not standard.

Well that certainly sounds like enough to fit the inside of the car. I dont believe they come with a boot carpet as standard, but i suppose some of the more expensive kits may. When i fitted mine about a year ago i think hats all it came with. And yes the piece with the farbic/vinyl sown on is for under the rear seat.

OK, thanks it sounds like whoever packed them, completed the paperwork wrong.

It says

This set contains all 12 pieces required
Pieces counted 12

I found it immensely helpful when fitting mine and whilst it deals with a Traveller the principles are the same for a saloon.

I fitted mine a few days ago.. you defintaley have a full set for the interior (so I guess the 12 piece included a boot carpet which has been robbed from the pack at some stage). I'd suggest getting old fsahioned underfelt.. i got mine for 20 off ebay and it's really deadened the sound and i'm hoping it will prolongue the life of the carpets. makes the car feel very cosy too!

I replaced my worn out standard felt with rubber backed felt like this: http://www.mrcarpetunderlay.co.uk/carpe ... ation.html (Super Velvet Acoustic 1 Carpet Underlay) - it even gives figures for sound reduction. 3 sq.m was more than enough.

It's not that hard to cut it to shape and in my experience gives a big improvement in terms of sound deadening. I placed it rubber side down and used some spray adhesive on the back to stop it moving. I even put some under the Traveller's rear seat to further damp the floor panel vibrations.

Make sure you cut a separate piece for the gearbox cover so that you can get at it without having to strip the entire underlay if you need to. Also, leave flaps around the gearbox filler grommet, the steering rack grease nipple grommet and the brake master cylinder, so that you can get at them for servicing.

I'm really pleased with the end result and with the new carpet it makes you want to put your slippers on when getting in the car

If you have a 4 door car you will find that the little triangular-ish sections below the front corners of the rear seat base are not supplied. It's possible you could be crafty and cut some bits from the edges of a piece where it hides below another - the rear transmition tunnel section perhaps. Worth knowing before you get stuck in.
