Something unusual about the front suspension...

Post by youngcamper »

Right all I have something unusual going on with the front suspension on my brothers car. Normally the steering arm links into the lower bulge on the king pin but on my brothers car the N/s steering arms goes into the upper bulge while on the O/S it is in the lower one.

Clearly this isn't right, does anyone know what effect this might have on the handling and what this steering arm might be off?

Cheers
Will

The kingpin is from a Riley 1.5 or a Wolseley 1500... The 'bump steer' must be tremendous! Change it for a Minor one asap.

bmc is correct, i presume the reason it was higher on the 1.5/1500 is so the rack could be mounted higher to clear the bigger box.

He did complain about the bump steer but I put that down to his enthusiastic driving style.

I will get it changed for a minor one shortly. Out of interest could I get another Wolselsey or Riley one and use it to save throwing it away ?

Cheers,

Right I'll be getting rid off that then, my dad has just told me that he an O/S one the same which he bought in error many moons ago.

If anyone wants a pair of Wolseley or Riley King pins send me a PM before they go on Ebay.

Maybe get a swap from a Wolseley owner for the excellent 9" Wolseley front brakes........
