How can uprated torsion bars be identified?

Hey there,
I am on the look out for some second hand uprated torsion bars and was wondering if there is any way of identifying them over standard bars and if there is a way of determining there stiffness - i.e 50,75,100%

I'm guessing they will be thicker - but - I suspect some of the 'uprated' T bars may simply be standard bars that have been 'heat treated' in some way. How effective that would be is a matter for conjecture..... Why do you want increased spring rate at the front?

This is so I can safely lower the front of my car. £300 ish for the Birmingham centres uprated bars is a lot so I was hoping to score some second hand ones for less. Its just that, say I do find some, until they have been fitted I wont know if they are actually uprated bars . I suppose they must either be thicker or composed of a different grade of steel/treated differently so i could compare them to the standards on the cat atm but I was hoping they would have some makings on them which someone might know?

May be easier and cheaper to add coilspring dampers if you are determined. JLH will of course sell you a complete coilspring front end with new wishbones etc etc.
