The Fate of Dolly

Post by Relfy »

Well, I missed an eye appointment today because Dolly failed to ignite. Nothing happened atall.
That clinched my decision and I rang Keith to tell him I'd like to sell her back.

.....Well anyway, Redruth man is on holiday, then I am, then Keith is, and I might be having to leave Cornwall to work by october.....
All more hassle than she's worth, very sadly.

Thanks SO much everyone, for all your help and advice, and sorry it was such a long saga!

At the same time..... I could really do with a reliable mode of transport!

Ho hum.... Anyone else want to sell me a car?

Try the For Sale board on here - always worth a look.
Oh, and try the club mag - there's usually quite a few in there.

If you're going to look, then take a knowledgeable friend with you - if you can join a fairly local branch (or that Cornish club) you might be able to avoid the pitfalls!

Good luck, and don't give up on the dream - Minors can be reliable daily transport. :D
Happy Minoring!

Mm, Rebecca's racked up about 40k in two years, and has (after the inital post restoration farcical breakdowns) been incredibly reliable...

Don't worry folks - got no qualms about minors ATALL! Dying to have another (rust-free) version as I need a car of some sort just to work! (i.e. quite urgently) Actually, everyone, please keep me in mind if you see any for sale. I seem to be a nomad anyway....so its quite likely I'd be able to travel to see it.....and you know by now what I'd like.

Sorry Kate about your waxoyle. Good job you're looking now and not 5 years time.....What I found in the box under the rear seat on Dolly was a thick (2-3mm?) layer of ear-wax type stuff, only darker. Mmmm! Anyway, whether thats right or not it seems to be doing the trick. Shame it wasn't extended to the sills really......

Hi el,

You know, if we have any spare time, at any point, and there are cars nearer me, I'm happy to go check them out :)

How about you buy it and fix it then then James! ;-)
That way Relfy can go and get a decent Minor and drive around happily and learn at a steady pace, whilst someone else is left with big bills and/or no car to use whilst their learn about Moggies the hard way...

oo, you remeber my name!

Yeah, I see what ur saying, it looks like its gonna cost a lot of money, which would probobly be best suited to someone further along the learning curve, with their own tools, and the knowledge/ability to do it themselves. Ah Well! It must be difficult not to get attrached tho! I know I am attached to my car and its not even a 'classic'

Why does it need welding? remember, these cars don't need sills ;-)

Thats right! And with this car you wont get any! None of these unnecessary encumbrances....they only rust anyway.

By the way James, the cheque would need to be made out to me. Nothing dodgy you understand... its just easier that it goes through my account rather than this man's... for, um, tax purposes.
