National Rally - participants & traffic marshalls needed!

Post by LouiseM »

As is traditional at the National, the Website can have a spot on 'Branch Avenue' to display a selection of members cars. Space is limited to 4 cars only but we usually swap them around on each day meaning a total of 8 cars can go on display overthe weekend. It's good to show the wide range of Minors owned by website members so there's usually a variety of body styles and a mixture of standard and modified / custom vehicles. Last year we had a saloon, traveller, custom pick up and stretched traveller. A range of different colours is good too and it doesn't matter what condition your Minor is in - it can be shiny or rotten or somewhere in between - it doesn't matter, all are welcome :D

The rally theme this year is 'The 1940s' and 'The Anniversary of the Morris Minor becoming the first British car to reach production of a million vehicles' and there is a prize for the best display. So if you have the urge to dress up (or perhaps you usually dress in a '40's style), or decorate your car, here's your opportunity. If you can make cups of tea or cakes even better :D The website stand usually attracts a steady flow of visitors so is useful in advertising the site to those who haven't visited here yet and is also a good meeting point for members to put faces to names.

Additionally, if there is enough interest we can have a slot in the main arena to show off a variety of vehicles and tell everyone a bit about them. Lastly, there is the InterBranch challenge where teams of 4 take part in some sort of activity*

If you would like to represent the website and take part in any of the above please post here to let me know. I have to let the organisers know by Thursday 23rd June if we wish to take part in any of the activities.

There wasn't a great deal of interest last year so if no-one is interested this year no problem but thought I'd ask anyway :)

*Caution: may result in embarrassment or making a show of yourself in front of a large number of people

Hopefully, me and my lads will be comming down on Friday night till Sunday.
James will be driving Sky now he's passed his test and I'll be driving Molly with Alan navigating, if I can get her finished and through her 1st MOT in over 30 years (maybe first ever?).
We'll be tenting for the first time aswell so hoping for good weather.

I'll help in any way if needed.

Thanks britab :D Doesn't look like we'll get enough interest for the inter branch challenge or arena slot but if you'd like to park up on the website area in branch avenue on either Saturday or Sunday you would be very welcome. You can just park your car up and leave it - you wouldn't need to stay with it all day.

I've also now received a request for traffic marshalls if anyone would like to volunteer. This will involve helping to direct cars onto the rally site from around 10.00am till 12.00 noon on either Saturday or Sunday and you will be provided with a loan of a high viz vest :D If anyone is interested, please post here stating the day that you would like to assist and further details will be provided nearer the time.

Thanks,

Lou

Thanks britab - pm sent :D

As always we've been snowed under with offers from people volunteering to help out (well just britab really but it's the thought that counts :) )

Anyway, for those of you travelling to the National, have a safe journey. The website will have a stand on branch avenue so please pop over and say hello during the weekend. There will be planty of tea & cake on offer and it will be good to put some faces to names.
