Boot Carpet

Post by JSimons »

Hi all,

Random question, is the boot carpet in a convertible the same as a saloon?

I've been looking to purchase some from bull motif, has anyone done this? Need something to stop the tools rattling around :D

Regards

Joe

There is no carpet in the boot, just a plywood floor.

I've never seen a standard car with a carpet in the boot. The Traveller has a different lining, but Saloons are just black plywood, but there's nothing wrong with fitting any scrap of carpet. The Convertible and Saloon boots are the same shape.

Yes, definately after market. A tool box would also help to stop your tools rattling around though

Wrap the tools in a length of material (large tool roll). This stops them rattling around in the boot. They can then be stowed with the spare wheel thus leaving the boot free for the picnic!

my tools are crammed into a box, the bigger ones are packed around the boot in places where they cannot rattle, i have a set of old car mats (that came with the car) on the boot floor/shelf.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

You could deal with any problem with that lot :)

I've got everything in a toolbox, it's more to damp the effect of going over bumps and the whole box jumping.

I think i'll try and modify an old tool box so everything will go in with the spare wheel

What size spanners and sockets do you have in the box? It really looks nice.

cant remember off the top of my head but I will try and have a look soon

Thanks!

its only small, the box was just a kicking around the garage, got hold of some foam, cut it down to size for the box and then cut in the tools.

Ive got one of the old wooden boxes that bottles of canada dry used to come in. Everything goes neatly in the toolroll then in there along with Bloo-roll and gloves :)
