1989 Nissan Micra

Post by iandromiskin »

Totally off topic, but I see one of these on the irish site Donedeal.ie and I am interested in maybe buying it. I always loved these and I think they are a future classic, but does anyone know what to look for in a second hand micra so that I know what to look out for IF i go to look at it ?? Owner has had it from new and has a service history, so I'm told. Says its good mechancially but body needs work (not specified).

Is it the one in Wexford if it is it looks at first glance to be good depends on price what does he mean enough work to make it his own?
look at sills, door bottoms, inside bonnet at inner frame may be rotten at front but no sign outside, bottom of tailgate , look inside engine bay at internal front panel where rad bottom sits , inside boot under carpet beside wheel well, rear chassis legs, rear arches , front wings, woops that virtually everywhere.

LOL. The usual Morris places then :)

Yeah its the one in Wexford all right. Hes asking 450.00e. Says its mechanically sound but only has pin points of rust, no holes, with dents on bonnet and doors and usual scraps. Sounds cosmitically ugly but mechanically sound (???). Claims is was all courtesy of his daughters who used to drive the car. Not driven since March last.

Curious to know what its like. Bit of a huge drive from Dundalk to what is effectively south Wexford, so don't know ??

Cheers.

Just after passing his driving test my mate used to drive one of these that his Mum had, I vividly recall him doing a hand brake turn in the middle of a busy road and that it would fairly easily reach 100mph :o on the motorway. Not surprisingly it ended up on its roof one night on a country road, thankfully everone got out of it safely.
