Front Seatbelts

I am planning on fitting static seatbelts to the front of my 1961 4 door saloon at the weekend. I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to mounting points etc as I've heard trying to find a decent mounting point in the front of a 4 door is a bit of a nightmare!!

I would not bother with static belts, I have used both and inertia belts are far better.

i,ll second that got statics at the moment on my tourer but intend to change them to inertia

the lower mountings are easy,bottom of sill below door post,and transmission tunnel with good re- enforcing plates,the problem is the upper mounting(Worse on a ser2 with the cutout for the traficators)Theres not much room to put re-enforcment since the pillar is quite narrow.I did mine on ser 2 by blanking off the traficator slots on the outside(Not bothered about originality ) then inserted a thick strip of steel bar down inside the pillar,about a foot long,bolted through the pillar top and bottom ,then fitted the upper mounting,In a high speed head on don't think the pillar would take the impact, In fact I know the b post would pull off at the roof,lowers would share some of the strain but anythings better then no belts at all, in a minor hit at low speed I think it would be ok and should save me hitting the wheel.If and when I sell the car I will be taking the belts off,and leaving the new owner the choice of re fitting them himself ,I think a safer system would be where the mountings are all on the sill where the diagonal belt goes over the shoulder and down to the floor behind the drivers seat, like a racing harness but would be very uncomfortable in everyday use,not sure what others have done with later 4 doors,where maybe the b post is stronger.
