colour of my car?

Post by looneyleo »

I have just bought my first Morris Minor, a 2door 1961 saloon, its colour is pillarbox red, is this the original colour? I have tried to find out through google, but with no luck. It may have been a commercial, car red being it's original? not sure how to find out, I am doing this car for my mid life crisis wife. Number on the plate in the engine bay, M/A2S3 872448, CAN ANYONE HELP?

Try CMC/1038 Postal Services Red This was a originally a Light Commercial Vehicles colour but an earlier owner may have used it for your car.

It could be worth while looking in some of the places where the respray may not have been normally done unless it had a complete interior and exterior paint job, have a look underneath the rear seat base its not fixed but will need a tug to raise it, or take out a glovebox liner and look behind it, or take a door panel off.
Cheers
