Fuel Gauge Still Faulty

Post by mike.perry »

My Series MM fuel gauge, and two others, still refuses to lift off empty but when I replace it with a 1098 gauge it gives a reading. Have I got three faulty gauges?

Sounds like the later type sender in the tank...........if it works with a 1098 gauge.

It is a 6 1/2 gal tank with its sender, it used to work ok until I fitted a new loom. I have checked all the wiring. The only difference between the gauges is that the MM gauge operates on 12V and the 1098 operates on 10V through the v/s

The 1098 type gauge is a 'hot wire' gauge - slow moving needle.
