Terror on the 1st June

Hello again ,

Yesterday, tragically, I was in my Morris Minor with my mum going to Milton Keynes Central to watch a film. When we were driving through Avebury Boulevard, we got hit by a Scania 8-wheel flatbed on the left rear wing, sending us across the road. Here are a few images of the damage that occurred in the incident. Also, miraculously, we only suffered shock, so therefore I am very grateful for the strength of the car for preventing further damage .[frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame][frame][/frame]

Thank you, we were all fine, no I'm afraid it was our fault.

Let's just say that the main road is a bit dangerous because the bus lane comes out at the side, so please do be cautious when doing down there, basically we didn't really see the traffic lights on the driver's side, but it was visible on the passenger side.[frame][/frame]

as for the car, make sure you get it properly checked out - aesthetically, the wing might be the only thing needing replacement, but the impact could have caused servere underlying issues :/

Thank you, we'll be handing her to a local bodywork specialist, so that'll be fine, but it's also having issues with the engine, but we'll sort that out tonight or whenever possible. I checked the underside, but it seems that only the wing was affected. We reckon the impact of the HGV caused the sediment in the fuel tank to shift, which resulted in the fuel filter being contaminated, and the engine jolting forward affecting the radiator, but like I said, we'll get it fixed soon .

Yes, but we'll get the engine fixed and send the car to our local bodywork specialist to get the wing repaired .

I don't think it will be fixed for tomorrow, or do you mean in July? If July then absolutely . I'm not on the Facebook group but I will join (I'm in the Young Drivers Scheme group though).

Thank you, I'm sure the council will notice it, but we've learnt that it's there now .

Glad that you and your Mum were ok, but what a nasty incident.

Have to say I hate going to MK and I always seem to get lost on my way home! I know it's supposedly a logical road set-up but I don't go there often enough to familiarize myself and so never seem to find the same route home as I have taken before! Too many junctions and roundabouts!!

Do contact the Council though - with photo evidence; it is a pain but they should be made aware of it (and you could ask for some recompense though I doubt you will get any) if only to rectify it and save some other poor motorist from the same fate.

Hope your lovely car will soon be sorted and as you say fortunately it is one of lifes lessons and thankfully did not involve injuries.
