footwell/floor mats
i see several of the normal suppliers have footwell mats, are they any good or am i better off to grab a piece of rubber and cut my own or cut to fit the universal types?
Re: footwell/floor mats
I've got a pair of the rubber mats and they are of a decent quality and shaped to fit the Minor footwell so do a good job of protecting the carpet, and have ridges in to collect the dirt. The universal types are unlikely to be such a good fit but no reason why you can't just cut some rubber to fit if that's the route you want to go down, although the finished effect may not be quite as good as a mat that has been specifically made to fit, and they won't have a 'Morris' logo on either

Just one word of caution - check the quality. The ones I bought 20 years ago were quite a stiff thick rubber and have lasted well. Those bought three years ago are definitely a lighter weight item. Still look good and fit perfectly, but a thinner material. It all depends upon which sort you have seen to set your expectations.

You can buy rubber or carpet mats. The best carpet mats were sold by the MMOC many years ago. They gripped the carpets so they did not slide about and lasted for ages before the driver's heal pad wore through. I wish that they would stock them again instead of some of the gimmicks

Yes, those are the ones - I think most of the Minor parts suppliers stock the same type.

We've got the Morris 1000 mats in all our cars. 2 cars have had them in for 9 years and one of these is used daily. No sign of thinning/wearing out yet

You can also get very hard wearing carpet mats to match the interior if you dont like the look or feel of the rubber ones.
