Well - someone must have decided to eliminate the 'vapours' problems......... Perhaps it has a mechanical pump fitted on the block (as per Austins) - trace the fuel pipe from the carb - where does it go ? If no mech pump - perhaps it is mounted at the rear, near the fuel tank - pushing the fuel along to the carb. Do you hear any ticking when you first switch on ?
can you fit mechnical pumps.. i've got one from a triump herald (i think.. someone donated it to me). would it have any advantages over the electric pump.. or is it hassel for nothing. I assumed it was worthless for the moggy and was going to ebay it
It eliminates the 'vapours' and became standard fitment on the Mini engine from the mid 70s onward. IF the block has the blanking plate fitted - it's a very simple install - however I can't guarantee the Triumph pump will have the right stroke - but it may well have !
Fuel pump, as suggested is by the fuel tank, very unusual?
and does this mean it is a different sort from the "bulkhead"
version, incidently, i don,t hear a ticking noise, should i ?
Depends on the make - only the SU type 'tick'. As long as it's well mounted and protected from dirt/water spray - leave it there! Certainly you won't be troubled with the 'vapours'.
