converting arhd traveller to lhd
Hi there to everyone,i wanted to know if i can turn the steering rack over to change to a lhd,i understand that the pedels have to be relocated,thats not a problem,is there anything that is really important when changing,i bought an old traveller 2 years ago from the uk and have now stripped it and am preparing it for a complete revamp,i live in finland and there are only 2 travellers here.pics posted.some niceinfo on the converion to lhd would be greatly appreciated.Andy in Finland[frame]

You will need an MG Midget steering rack turned upside down.
The accelerator cable passes through the bulkhead in the same place so you will need a modified accelerator pedal linkage.
The brake master cylinder has to be moved to the other chassis leg which will require brake pipe changes.
The wiring may have to be extended to reach the left hand steering colmn.
Have you got a key lock on the left side door?

If your Traveller has not got an outside lock on the left side door you will need to unlock the right side door, lean across and open the left side door then walk around the car and get in the left side

if i get the rack will the trackrod original ends fit or will i need the midget ones,i do see a rack on the ebay.[frame]

There are two size track rods on the steering rack, the 1098 rack had larger diameter track rods than the earlier cars and therefore larger diameter TREs. As long as you have the correct TREs for the steering rack then they are interchangable.

the old girl is a 1962,i have now sent it to a friend who does rust service and repairs old cars,he will do all the welding and painting,he tells me its hard to find the original colors with the new style of paints available,it will be the original color of rose taupe,any idea on the color code for the waterbase paints.i will be doing all the actual rebuilding and will be making all the interior new as original spec,I have been in contact with a uk firm that will supply the timber kit for 800 pounds,i hope that includes the vat,if not when i pick it up i will give them a non eu address therefore avoiding the dreaded vat.i am coming over to the uk next month,there are some second hand woods about but i think its best to go new,when i get the timber kit i will first give it to a friend who for cheap money will make a sparekit,we have the ash here and its quite cheap,i did try to do a deal ash wood in exchange for a kit but i think they want the cash.any info on wood prices would be good.that is if its cheaper than 800[frame]

And the house was built in 1940 repaired by mysellf and sons,we did everything.so its a nice place for the old morris to live.the outside sauna was built in 1937,will post picture if you keep an eye on my posts,outside of the sauna and garage come wood store[frame]

I had my 1970 Traveller converted to LHD to make life easier here in France - had it done professionally in Bristol.
You could try a place in Denmark that deals with Morris Minors, they may have the LHD steering rack you are looking for and perhaps a left hand door with a keyhole.

I got a right hand side glove box lid from them in good condition.
There may be Minor clubs in other scadinavian countries that may be able to help you.

MANAGED TO GET MOST OF WHAT I NEEDED AT ESM MORRIS SPARES INCLUDING THE LHD COVER PLATE FOR THE GEARBOX,the rest is easy,the pedals changed them over using a grinder and reweld.cars still in the rust shop being sand blasted,will update some project pics as i get them.

Hi Sharky, One of the hard to find bits will be the gas pedal that extends over from the left to the right side. There is a guy near me who has a yard full of LHD Minors, some for rebuilding most for parts.
