Hi does anyone know how to fit a rev counter to a 65 1098?

Why do want to count the revs ??

It depends on the make and the colour coding of the wires

I'd be interested to know the fitting procedure for an MG Midget tacho. But I had assumed that process is already here!

Ones marked RVI take a feed from the coil CB side and loop it round a small post on the back of the rev counter before it goes to the CB itself (ie it sits in-line) whereas the RVC type take power via the fusebox (green wire) plus a feed from the coil (ie in series). Depends which type of revcounter you have.

Well now that I'm in the midst of the process, I'll go on and revive this thread...I have the RVC type. As far as I can ascertain, the spade terminal (in the little bunch of terminals at the back) is earth, power comes in through either the male or female terminal from the green side of the fusebox, and a feed runs from the positive side of the coil to the other gendered terminal. Is that correct? Of course, it'd be handy to know which is male and which is female...

Do you have a picture of the back of the rev counter?

Close examination of spade terminals can give a clue, if they are spot welded to the case they are earth connections, if insulated from the case probably not earth connections.
