'Iris' Morris Minor Convertible - Engine 'Missing'

Post by jacksonjoe04 »

Hi all. Hope it is all going well.

I have been driving Iris around this sunny weekend. She was fine for the first half an hour, but once she had warmed up the engine began to 'miss' continuously. We still made progress and could accelerate away, but stuttering all the way.

Could this be the sparks plugs mis-firing or the timing badly adjusted?

Thanks Guys Joe J :D :D :D

All the usual ignition stuff - start with points adjustment - if that doesn't help then new condenser/rotor arm/dizzy cap etc Only swap one thing at a time so you KNOW what it was..........

I'd start with the tappet adjustment, they need to be checked when cold ,as the gap gets taken up as the engine gets hot.

Not necessarily - the push rods expand at much the same rate as the block/head etc - unless using carbon - fibre pushrods?
