those mirrors are useless, i have them on each side.. theyre too far back so you have to twist your head to use them, the fall off when you open your quater light, you cant use them if you open your quater light and they bend in when you go above 30!

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I had a blocked filter on a midget 1275 engine - I had just serviced it 500 miles earlier!! The filter housing didn't have the switch and the first I knew was the big ends giving upnot sure how many thousands of miles it takes for the light to come on anyway, or do paper filters get clogged quickly?
The engine was new to me and previously had been full of sludge (which I didn't know about). It overheated due to me setting the timing wrong and that helped all the sludge leave its resting point and end up in the filter starving the engine of oil but giving 'good' oil pressure on the guage.
Second blocked filter was on a 1098 - light started to flicker. This time I changed the filter instead of the engine.
There is no actual figure for how long it takes - if you have an engine full of sludge due to a lax previous owner then it can happen anytime despite having a new oil and filter.
Worst accessory? Royal Wedding paraphenalia!!

Those fluted slats that fitted onto windscreen wipers to "hold " them to the windscreen. Once saw a large spoiler attached to the roof of a Mini (old shape) 850cc! Would have kept it on the road, but certainly wouldn't have helped with the fuel consumption.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
Modern oils are full of detergents and other chemicals designed keep soot etc in suspension until it get picked up by the filter or the oil is changed.
I scraped enough sludge just off my cars rocker box to make a golf ball sized lump.
The sump was probably worse but I didn't measure it just scraped it all out.
Even now it doesn't take long for the oil to turn very black which will be from all the hard to reach places.
Hopefully after lots of miles and several changes this will stop happening.

Has anyone said "Wolseley front brakes" yet? Just save up a bit longer and buy discs.

I think fitting larger drum brakes is potentially a good idea! I would not knock them till I've tried them.RobThomas wrote:Has anyone said "Wolseley front brakes" yet? Just save up a bit longer and buy discs.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
nowt wrong with wolseley brakes
worst accessory i ever have had was the Smith self sticky rear window heater element things.
I bought one for my wolseley and it worked great, i then bought another one for Primrose and it instantly burnt out, cracked the rear window and fried most of the electrics behind the dash.

I could name a few useless accessories, but then naming and shaming bad products is forbidden under the forum Terms and Conditions and perhaps that is why no-one is naming them!Courthouse/Tom wrote:UUUmm-------------what a shame, not many people actually answering the question !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Looks like a hideous BBQ hanging off the back of youre car.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I take personal offence to that! I love my boot rack Hardly BBQ-like either, a simple metal loop and legs with wooden slats making up most of the construction.
You don't see it on classic cars so much but it's very popular in the rat movement at the moment - stretched tyres. They look absolutely awful and incredibly unsafe. I recently saw photos of an audi with tyres so stretched and suspension so lowered that the rim of the wheel was outside the wheelarch lip and the tyre was inside the lip.
