I want to put George in for the Working Minor category but as I have only had him for a few weeks I obviously haven't done enough miles. I wondered if it was taken pro rata. I can get the 3 MOTs.
If my family want to join me camping do I just pay for a second car (and maybe third) camping or do they have to pay the £15? They don't want a plaque, is that only for members?
Right - I believe dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a lead at all times (and cleared up after)!
If you're not a member you can bring your Minor for £15 (£13 members) entry. It will cost you £6 per night for the tent and if your family come in another car the same day (following you say with the tent in i.e. support vehicle) you will be charged £9 for that vehicle. If they arrive on at a different time they will be charged £15 for visitors.
To qualify for the working vehicle you must have the previous 3 MOT certificates, and prove your vehicle has covered 15,000 miles in the last year alone.
You can enter George in either the 2dr or 4dr classes (not certain which he is) On the Sunday (judging day) you will be shown where to park him. If you wish to be judged just leave your bonnet open.

Am I the only one who can do that kind of mileage in a cople of days? I guess they'll never satisfy everyone but 5000 seemed sensible.

I do agree that 1500 is stupidly low as chris and ray pointed out. Personally i believe less than 10,000 is not a car used on a regular basis, and therefor not a 'working' minor.

I disagree. At the moment until George is fully functional I am driving a 2001 Rover 25! I barely do 2,000 miles in it because I work and live in the same village but it is still a working car.

Surely, 10,000 is too much?
I see where your coming from scot, but equally some could argue that in that instance of not needing the car for work, whatever you drive will be mostly at weekend and for social, rather than working? :S maybe i'm missing the point of 'working minors' though.
Well an individuals average mileage is around 13,000 per year. Working on the basis that not everyone does this I would expect a "working" mileage to be above 8,000 - especially if you take in to account 6,000 is a common insurance mileage limit.
In the last year I have only done about 15 miles in my trav
