my saab service

Post by dalebrignall »

i had my saab 900xs serviced yesterday, having spent nearly £700 i was a bit miffed to find the oil filter had not been changed.i did change the oil 5 months ago and replaced it with a old style saab filter which you cant get any more, ive only done about 2000 miles on that filter so it will be okto go the rest of the year,i just want to know what you think .i know the saab filter is better than the patttern parts they fit now .

It should be good for what ever the service interval for oil filters is on that car.

get a friend to ask for the same service on near identical car and make the garage send him/her a list of the work done before they book the service.

If filter is on the list... get back to them and ask what actions and consumables included in the service were missed out.
Then do your best to haggle some refund - worst case would be discount off the next service.

Having paid £700 to the garage I would take the car back and get it changed. If they do not play ball threaten them with trading standards. Main stealers pull these sort of tricks all the time for extortionate sums of cash. My Citroen came with nine years Main stealer service history and seized door hinges as they had never been lubricated in that time, the car also had the wrong air filter fitted. They are always trying to cut corners and get away with it, most of the time because their customers are not as vigilant at checking their work as you have been. A friend of mine used to mark service items on his Capri in an inconspicuous place with tip-ex to ensure the job was done properly. Needless to say he had to point out missed work. The old adage applies, if you want a job done properly do it yourself........
