Growing Convoy for National 2011

Post by Matt Tomkins »

not sure how feasible it would be, which i why i suggest it early on!
If everyone traveling up on the friday adds an appropriate pick-up point to a google map and reposts, we could have a route (or more likely several merging) which could end up in an ever-growing convoy to the national.
add a destination and re-post

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... z=11&via=1

once we know how many + distances etc, we can sort out to coordinate timings - a potentially mammoth task, i know!

I'm coming from BN14 0EB, West Sussex

It sounds like a great idea - last time I went to the National I didn't see a single Morris for the entire journey!

As for avoiding motorways - it looks from the map as though there's an expanse of countryside road between St Albans and Knebworth... it would certainly be the scenic route! (Though I will be towing a trailer so would prefer nothing too windy :) )

If I'm being too awkward, I don't mind not being in the convoy! Who knows anyway, I may have passed my test by then!

you're not being awkward! - i'll have a look at routes when i get a moment - even if you and coles meet us closer to, having gone separate ways - tbh, i'm pleased not to be doing motorways this end!

good luck passing your test! - you doing it in martha? - you'll need headrests btw

Unfortunately won't be doing the test in Martha as she has no headrests :( but then again, it may well be better doing it in a less temperamental car!

Nah, don't think that, it's much more interesting to divert off the main roads anyway :)

I'd be telling her that if she doesn't want to go in the Minor she doesn't have to... she can stay at home. But I'm just mean like that
