Adresses of Parts dealer for Saturday

Post by Watson48 »

This coming Saturday, 30/04/2011 I am in the afternoon on the road between Nottingham and Hull. Can anyone tell me if there are in the area a parts dealer or a private person, where can I get parts for my Morris Eight E ('48)? I need a 6V dynamo and possibly a regulator RF95.
Actually I'm from Germany and I am on a short trip to England. On Saturday I'm on the way to the ferry Hull.
Thank you for a tip.

Thx, Oliver

Rough distance in miles from Hull to Nottingham is 64 miles or 102.98 KMS.
I think a good battery would get you this far, but for insurance I'd get a 12 volt battery with exposed cell connectors and fabricate a terminal in the middle to make 2 6 volt batteries out of it
If this is a terrible idea, anyone feel free to criticise.

I know a Minor will keep going for many hours on a fully charged battery as I had a dynamo failure in England but managed to get a very long way down France by swapping batteries with friends when they got too tired to start my car on the starter.
I'd start theirs on the handle and we all made it.
There were very few battery swaps involved too, I can't remember how many exactly, or where we were going, but it doesn't take much juice to keep a Minor sparking.

Thanks for the replies. I am really looking for only the parts for these to take to Germany. I have no breakdown or similar. The Morris is at home and I think the Dynamo is defective. And so I thought if I ever am on the road in England, I look even if I get one there.

I think that the problem you will have is that many spares places open only Monday - Friday and possibly Saturday morning, not the afternoon. Couple that with wanting a 6v unit, it being a long bank (public) holiday week end (Friday and Monday off for many) and your tight geographic area, and I think that you will struggle to find anything. Sorry, but good luck with the search.
