Where to get a headlamp fix at short notice???

Post by adh »

Got my MOT booked in tomorrow morning and just found that the lamp has gone on low beam. It's plastic bolws with the sealed beam lamp.
It's a treck to my local minor supplies and it sounds like it'll be a while for the local motorfactors to get one in.

Don't supose theres a quick way of converting to bulbs with say off the shelf mini parts?

Hoped I could maybe get the bits and fix it up at the garage after they've tested it.

Cheers

Hi IIRC, mini headlights are the same (7" lucas) or most motor factors/classic places

Where in the country are you? maybe there is a member local who has some spares that would help. Pretty sure ive got a headlight in the garage somewhere (swindon)

Halfords sell them (I had to buy one myself in the past at short notice!). See their website here and you can also check online to see whether they have them in stock at your local store: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165538

And as already posted, if you tell us your location someone local might be able to provide one.

He seems to be in Oldham based on previous posts.

(ps: Oldham Halfords don't have any in stock but they've got some in Ashton Under Lyne)

Fix it BEFORE the test, that way the car might pass. With a blown lamp it WILL fail. 8)

not if your the tester! it's a bulb at the end of the day. it isn't a safety item. it can be fitted in less than 2 minutes and is a waste of time failing a classic because of it.
