Wiring loom brading/cover.

Post by heathy12 »

Just assesing the loom on my new project for when I start work on it.

The whole engine bays been covered in thick black hammeright and this is all flaking off and literally everywhere.

I'll be tidying up the loom as some clown has butchered it in half below the fusebox and regulator for some reason!

Does anyone know of any options for replacing the loom cover to smarten everything up in my bay? The original covers thick with paint, brittle and aint pretty!

Originals a fabric type cover, I know you can get plastic sleeving, either heat shrink or cable guides but I'd preferably like to get my hands on some fabric covering ideally.

ANyone done this before??

Cheers.

There's some suggestions here: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... loom+cover

A Google search shows that Frost also sell braided sleeving:

Hi

Autosparks will rebraid you harness as original once you have repaired it... but its probably almost as cheap to buy a new loom though. :(

They also do correct coloured cable by the metre.

Autosparks are excellent! I used them 14 years ago to completely cover the loom that I had made using the existing loom for the original circuits, and new wiring for all the new stuff. I drove up to Autosparks and walked away about 2 hours later with a completely new looking loom - remember to keep a sample of the original braid so that they can match it.

For a standard car a new loom is probably a lot easier, but I wonder how many have not had any additional electrics added at all?
