In those days you could get away with hiding the rot with filler and underseal, there was a lot of rot but spent my money on a some wider wheels and a cheap spray job (ford sunburst red), also used black vinyl paint on the hood.[frame]
In 1983 Maurice moved into my garrage for some much needed TLC, the strip down then began.[frame]
About eight years later Maurice went for the big rot removal and weld.[frame]
Back to my garrage, paint stripped back to bare metal and about 2 gallons of waxoil injected.[frame]
Twelve months later off to the spray shop, Jaguar British racing green this time.[frame]
The putting back together stage was difficult to say the least as I had dismantled it ten years before (had labled lots of things but the lables had rotted). Midget 1275 engine and box, front discs, spax dampers, new kingpins, loom and carpets were just a few of the things done.[frame]
Passed mot first time and drove my old friend during the summer for about five years, been sat in a dry garrage since about 2006. Hoping to give him another run for his big 50, Changed gearbox, waterpump, rear brake cylinders, all greased and oil changed/topped up. MOT next week, fingers crossed.
