I could be asking for the moon on a stick here...

But right now, I'm willing to try anything....
Right, this is the situation. Myself and my co-pilot Davespice take part in an annual charity rally called the Scumrun. Pretty much exactly the same as the Gumball rally, but with a limit that the cars cannot cost more than £500. We've been doing it for near on 6 years now and in that time we have raised nearly £4000 for various children's charities, mainly on the south coast.

Below are the cars which have powered us round europe over the various years.

This year, we are collecting for Dreams come true and we wanted to do something a bit different, all the cars we had taken in previous years had been fast, this year we wanted slow and steady, in short, we wanted a Morris Minor :D

Finding one has proven more difficult than I first imagined, finidng one for 500 in the first place has been difficult, but getting one which wasnt a complete wreck for 500 is even harder.

Things came to a head yesterday when I trekked across london after agreeing a price on this.

Looked okay, if not particularly tidy, however, on the auction, the seller neglected to mention the mayonaise in the oil filler cap (blown head gasket) and the holes in the sill you could put your fist in (which would have been okay if the MOT wasnt going to expire on the rally) :x

This has left me carless and with the rally starting next week, rather desperate. This is why I am posting on here.

If anyone has anything tucked away which fills the criteria (less than £500, current MOT) then I would love to hear from you. I am based in the south east but can travel for the right car, hell if you trust us enough (Because with grit, determination and fully comprehensive european breakdown cover we've ALWAYS brought our cars home under their own steam) and would like hire us a Minor for the weekend, then that would work and be well within the rally rules too. so if you're feeling generous and would like to help out a genuine car enthusiast take a car with a 55 mph cruising speed on a transeuropean rally, then please get in touch.

Hope to hear from you soon,
astraboy & Davespice.

Im already supporting one team... Team Floppy Throttle

Whereabouts are you? Head gasket isn't a major problem (you can get headsets for £15) but are you sure its the HG? Mayonnaise is normal if the car has only been used for short journeys and not been allowed to get warm. A good thrash will often get rid of it!

And whereabouts are you exactly?

It's over a period of five days, four of which are abroad, starting next Thursday.

The route is not disclosed before the start of the rally, but I know the organisers, so I could be able to get an indication.

Distance has varied between the rallies, anything from 1600-2200 miles.

On a personal tip, I am an advanced driver with extensive experience if driving abroad and European breakdown cover (with recovery to the UK if necessary) will be obtained.

Of course, an invite to the launch party will be forthcoming to see us off.

On top of that, all breakages will, of course, be paid for.
Can you help us out?

If you can't get a minor for that cash, may I recommend a 924? 500 will get you a good onthe road example. Similar a rubber bumper mg. Or be very different and get a robin! Or a rascal van
