I have fitted the new points, condenser etc.
Have a healthy spark at the plug
but the engine wont catch, the carb has been rebuilt but the air seems to be coming out the carb rather than going into the engine.
The distributor has been set on the timing marks ?
any thoughts ?

Dribble about a thimble full of petrol down each plug hole and report back.

Re: why wont the sidevale engine start
Have you got a healthy spark at all the plugs?
Have you got the correct fireing order?
Have you got the timing 180deg. out?
Is it fitted with a water pump so that you cannot see the timing mark?
Have you tried slackening the dizzy and rotating it whilst pushing the starter button?
Is the carb operating correctly?
