hi YAS646 1957 2dr will soon be back on the road again at last ,
i have just fitted rear lowering kit about 1-1/2 inches drop, but the bump stops are very close to the body is this normal or is there somthing else
i should have done as well ? also the front is the next job can anyone advise me on adjustment to match the rear height is there a easy way and could the bump stops be a problem ? looking forward to driving
(YAS) soon , as i bought her 2 months ago , and have spent many hours
giving the car a new lease of life thanks from arkright.

i presume the lowering kit you have fitted consists of metal spacers between the axle and spring + longer U bolts?
If so then you have moved the axle and the bump stops closer to the body by the same amount that you have lowered the car.
only thing to do is cut the bump stops down to give better clearance.
Front can be lowered by adjusting the plate on the center crossmember for each side, or possibly move the suspension arms 1 spline max, but you may need to fit uprated torsion bars to go lower

Yes as Iain says its the body you have lowered not the axle so clearances will be reduced.just fitted rear lowering kit about 1-1/2 inches drop, but the bump stops are very close to the body is this normal

Yep,
You definitely need to cut the bump-stops down when lowering the car otherwise you will be using the rubber, instead of the suspension.
Ideally you need to fit stiffer torsion bars if you are considering going more than 1 inch lower on the front.
You can adjust the height by sliding the bottom arm off the bar and re-fitting it one spline round.
NB. MAKE SURE YOU MARK THE ORIGINAL ARM POSITION BEFORE DISASSEMBLY.
One spline equals 1 inch.
Cheers

Hi again i have taken your advise and lowered the front suspension
today just the one spline, and i have removed a slice of bump the bump stops, i am well pleased with the result's , i may go abit lower when i can
find some stronger torsion bar's at a later date, better get other odd job's
done to (yas) first . Thanks to both of you for your help cheer's arkright. :
