When we have supposed "Morris Minor Enthusiasts" willing to strip restorable cars for parts beyond the point of return... yes the number will fall very sharply. Buying second hand parts on ebay will just encourage this kind of business especially when parts are available new. OK we can argue the "quality" of parts issue, but we really aren't helping the Minors survival at all.rayofleamington wrote:

Of course Au, I entirely agree.
I just get the feeling sometimes that line is broken as breaking a car for it's parts will re-coupe a financial reward. The thing is also you may be buying re-production from a breaker not necessarily BMC stuff.
I also feel some new people to the scene aren't aware of the new parts supply.

You cant force Minors on people when to many get scraped and more people want them than cars avalible the few left will be saved . I have a Fiat 500 they are worth money in any condition, this started happening about 2002 and over 4 million of them were made. Mabe in a few years the moggie will get to that stage.

A Triumph Spitfire owner beat us to it.
However their database isn't set up to be searched by make/model so it might be up to some larger organisation to pay for such a search to be set up and tested.
£900 isn't a fortune, maybe the FBHVC or similar could fund it and make the results available to owners clubs for a "nominal" fee.

request.
However, we estimate that the cost of collating the information would exceed the appropriate
limit of £600. Under Section 12 of the FOI Act DVLA is not obliged to comply with a
request where the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating, retrieving
and extracting that information exceeds £600. This amount equates to 3.5 days worth of work
and is provided for in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit
and Fees) Regulations 2004.
Our IT supplier would do the bulk of this work and based on previous work an indicative
example would take around 3 man days to determine, locate, retrieve and extract the
information requested. However, DVLA would be charged £600 per day for that work that
would involve writing, testing, scheduling and running the query. Therefore the cost will be
above the appropriate limit as described above.
However, DVLA has commercial selling agents to whom we sell anonymised data. They may

I'm not hiding anywhere!!They are probably still hiding in their garages as the rally season doesn't really start until April.

I guess there's a lot of Minors in garages though - not so many people parking them in the street these days unless they have no choice. Classic cars do seem to attract vandals

I live about 5 miles from cov and there are 2 other Minors within a street of me (excluding mine). Since the van was on the drive I've had 4 enquires about selling it - so they don't just attract bad attention

As was earlier suggested when someone mentioned exports from the UK, a proper Morris Minor Census needs to be global. That may be plausible in twenty years' time, when every person in the world is on Facebook and the relevant users have dozens of photos a piece of their restos, but for now it'd be very difficult without extraordinarily deep pockets and a worldwide ad campaign.
