the last coat started to sag on the f/n/s wing, rather than leave it to dry and sand it back like a patient lad, I panicked and tried to wipe it off with thinners, to my Horror it then quickly went from bad to worse as it stripped several layers off from my nice thick coats of paint, now I'm left with this sad mess to build up, flat back, build up...[frame][/frame]

I'm consoling myself with the fact that the rest is rather good, so there is only the wing to do now. The engine bay is finally done along with the interior of the cab. So I can start assembly now, and finish the wing off in slow time.

Shame about that wing m8, but it will come good once you set about on it no problems.
Loving the progress so far was getting a bit impatient since last update

You could definately have that ready to bring to the national in July

flatting back and filler building carries on, quite time consuming waiting for each coat to dry, but its slowly getting there, i'm spraying on a grey primer guide coat next.[frame][/frame]

in between coats drying and sanding, I'm slowly refitting different features,like the tailgate chains, the original glass windscreen is ready to be fitted when the seal arrives.[frame][/frame]

on a warmer day I intend to give all the black bits another fresh coat of chassis black. The front panel awaits refitting once the larger engine components and the brake pipes are in.[frame][/frame]

you might struggle to fit the chrome grill surround with the grille slats fitted (if they are fitted, i can't quite tell). it is possible to sneak in there with a spanner, but you risk damaging the paint. much easier to do without the slats in!

also, the chains for the tailgate, is there no means of protecting the paintwork from them? i can imagine them swinging around and scratching the paintwork!

Maybe an inner tube from a push bike over the chain?

The tailgate chains would have originally had protective sleeves over them made of vinyl matching the interior trim ,just simply folded over into a tube and stitched.

I'm sure I'll find a way later on of protecting the paint from the swinging chains, looks a bit medievil left like that, though you can tuck the chains behind the interior strength braces.
The front will be staying off untill I connect up the hydrolic brake pipes and the stop switch, there is great access afforded to the engine bay when it's stripped off like this.[frame][/frame]

the dip switch has seen better days, this one is from the basket case, but the original looks to be in better shape.[frame][/frame]

make up the front panel to the rad panel and top chrome and bonnet catch and slatted grill, bolt on to the front and then the hockey sticks

Tah, thats just the order I will reassemble the front panel in, thanks Dennis. now for the black bits, another coat, after Ive mixed the paint with my drill fitted with a wide hole spade drill on full speed.
