so an hour ago, driving home from my first day at a new job, some little s**ts, threw 2 condoms full of ice, in the dark over a huge hedge, got home and found a huge dent in my bonnet and cracked paint all around it, obviously phoned the police but the police force around here are useless, thankfully it wasnt my minor, but my pug 106, sure its not exotic but still, its something i car about... anyway i want to know...

What have other idiots around you done to your loved possessions and got away with???

I recently had an egg thrown at the lowlight which cut right through to the primer, the ariel was broken off the blue minor and some months ago the roof was dented with a vodka bottle. Almost a year ago there was 20 odds delibrate arson attacks in the area were I live, one night they tried to set fire to the green minor in the driveway. Thank fully it didnt catch fire properly and only damaged some paintwork and a tyre. I never heard back from the police about the fire myself but heard from neighbours the person had been caught and was to serve time for all the fires.

That makes the area were I live sound really dodgy, though its not.

The Minors have escaped any unwanted attention, but the car I have that I dread leaving anywhere other than my front drive /garage is my beloved Porsche 944 S2. A beautiful, quality German performance car, in bright guards red and with the famous Stuttgart badge it seems to turn jealously into violence from the local chavs- this is what has happened to my car:-

(not my actual car, but looks the same except mine is RH drive).

1) Rear wiper blade snapped in two and used to lever out the badge, scratching the front panel in the process..
2) tyre valve caps stolen about four times. (I wonder if they were going to let the tyres down as well for extra spite??)
3) Badge stolen again when parked one evening in Ramsgate town centre.
4) When parked outside a friends house overnight, some scumbag tried to wrench the passenger side door mirror off, slightly denting the door in the process.
5) Paint chip and small dent where some jealous t^^&t shoved an empty shopping trolley into the rear wing.

I sympathise with you, although "only" a 106, it is still your motor and no-one deserves to have their car damaged by mindless vandals.

Couldn't claim my incidents were deliberate but just as bloody annoying:

1. Some brainless idiot launched a Wickes shopping trolly into the side of my Freelander several years ago, there I sat helpless in the car watching it bounce down the passenger side making several contacts on the way.

2. Thanks should also go out to the moron who tried to fit their estate car into the gap left behind my Saab when the mini that was previously there left in the high street outside my girlfriends house over New Year. Left me with a large black scrape across my bumper - no sorry, no note.

I had someone try to steal the two bikes out of the rear garage a few years back, when they couldn't get them past my 100e they kicked them over, knocking the tank off one and damaging the Chrome work on my pop! I also noticed there's two great big hand prints on my minors boot lid today..... seems someone tried to push it?

I've had one Minor dented when parked in the road - no note, but that's about it for damage.
I've had 2 attempted thefts of Minors and rear light lenses stolen from one of them.

For modern cars I've been pretty lucky until moving to a naff area ~2 years ago - since then we've had:
1) Bonnet badge broken off Merc
2) Punto door badly dented (no note of course)
3) Numerous occassions stones thrown at the cars
4) Snowballs thrown at the cars (with or without stones inside)
5) Snowballs thrown into the house when the front door was opened
6) Tyres let down on at least 2 occasions
7) Puntures (with nails/screws/stanley blade) adding up to 6 now, or 7 if you include my parents visiting. We suspect the little ###ers are putting the nails into the tread so they puncture when you drive away. My dad commented it was his first puncture in 20 years...
8 ) Abusive comments written on the car windows in the ice / condensation a few times.

Generally there are loads of children hanging around in our area - anything from 3 years to 20 years old. Nothing to do apart from shout, swear, chase each other and break things (whatever gets broken must of course be left in the middle of the road). Half a mile away there's a park and really good BMX track, but the kids find the roads and strangers front gardens to be more interesting.
About 2 months ago I had a 3 year old walk straight in front of my car 200 yds from home - Normally you would have a go at the parent/s for not taking care, but there wasn't one in sight...

Most of my cars look so shabby that they think they've already been done over and dont try again

The old fiesta did get nudged by a bus when it was outside my then house (the proof was the red & beige paint that was left behind) and of course no note etc - but only very minor and not worth the faff.

I'm dreading leaving agatha in a rough area though

Was the very proud owner of a brand new J reg Rover 214SI back in 1992.... within two days someone pulled the drivers wing mirror off. Just for good measure while I was pricing up the repair bill, they came back and pulled the passenger one off. So two missing wing mirrors and a big hole each side where they fitted. After getting the wing mirrors fixed, within a week someone had kicked the rear quarter panel, it was a three door and cost over £350 at the time to get repaired. After getting that repaired I got home late from the pub one Friday night to find my two new wing mirrors had been broken off and left quite neatly in the middle of the road for some lorry to flatten. I never did catch the runts, but with some luck twenty years on they are having their new cars vandalised by the new breed of gets.

all these stories sound dreadful! and here's me with only a dent in my roof and a dent in my bonnet after some nice chap walked over it to show off to some girls (according to witnesses). I parked it for years on the roadside infront of my girlfriends house. every friday and saturday night you'd hear drunken yobs when they'd been kicked out the pub, and the worst i found was my wing mirrors repeatedly adjusted to silly (but never broken) angles. the dents in the roof however were done at something silly like 5pm. who'd do that in the light of day? if i'd been there at the time i'd have chased him down the street and walked over him

i had a rover 200 some scumbag smashed the window and stole the stero it was 4 days before christmas .

I had a 1.3 astra van for quite a while - a very polite thief stole it and brought it back later when they were finished with it. I was in a secure car park with a security guard who watched him open and start the car apparently with a key I never did get to the bottom of this. Apart from this I have had the usual broken aerials, broken door mirror off and someone use my Morris bonnet as a trampoline. The worst of it was that I'm sure most of this damage is done by folk who live close by and probably say hello to you when they pass by.

There's a lot to be said in favour of summary justice; catch someone in the act - take appropriate steps to ensure that the perpetrator never touches anyone's car again.

Unfortunately in this country you would be dragged through the 'legal' system whilst the original offender would get compensation, and counselling because some nasty man prevented them from exercising their freedom of expression.

What a joke this country has become. As soon as we can, my wife and I are off to Poland - permanently. Taking Morris and our black Civic to a country where hard-working people and their property are still respected.

A few very minor dents on cars and scuffs but who knows where they came from - definately not attributable to a person...

I've noticed quite a few scuffs today when cleaning the car that weren't there 3 weeks ago, just peoples carelessness and opening doors onto others in carparks etc but really annoying!
